Hojicha first originated in 1920's by a tea merchant in Kyoto. Our Hojicha Powder is crafted exclusively from tea leaves grown in the famed tea region of Kyoto, Japan.

Matcha powder and hojicha powder are both Japanese green teas. The most noticeable difference is that hojicha powder is made out of roasted tea leaves, resulting in a nutty and toasty flavor.

Hojicha is made using mature tea leaves and stems, which are low in caffeine. The low caffeine content of hojicha is also attributed to the roasting process which nearly reaches 200°C.

Hojicha has a naturally sweet taste and a toasty flavor. The roasting process of hojicha powder removes any bitterness typically found in green tea.

Our Hojicha Powder is crafted by farmers located in the Kyoto prefecture of Japan. We exclusively use tea leaves grown in the Kyoto region to produce the original Hojicha Powder.

Our Hojicha Powder is crafted in small batches every month. The shelf life is close to a year from the purchase date. With proper storage, the powder will retain its optimal taste for about 3 months after opening the bag.

Our Hojicha Powder is suitable for a vegan or vegetarian diet. It is strictly made from tea plants and does not contain any other ingredients.
